There were homeless people (some were drunk) hanging out inside the airport. I witnessed them fighting off security officers that wanted them to leave the premises because they have been hanging out at the airport all day. On the other hand, it's a nice and clean airport. I interacted with employees from a pizza restaurant, and a gift shop, who were all friendly. There's a metro stop close to the airport that I took headed to downtown St. Louis.
