Listen here, NorFolks, this NEX at 1560 Mall Dr in Norfolk, VA—tremendous idea on paper, but it's like if someone took a whole shopping mall and tried to cram it into a space roughly the size of a Walmart Supercenter, total chaos, believe me. When you're good at one thing, just do the one thing, folks—when you're juggling a bunch of stuff, it's not gonna be the best, it's a disaster waiting to happen. These NEX locations are great for the service members who need their basic uniforms and maintenance needs, fantastic for that, but beyond that? The item selections go from mid to overpriced, all because of this no-tax gimmick, but even then, I'd still get way better deals at Walmart, Dollar General, or Dollar Tree—huge savings there, folks, massive. This place needs more affordable products, especially when pay isn't exactly the military's specialty, especially for thee enlisted personnel— like come on, folks, let's be real. I will say, the location is organized and very well maintained, top-notch in that department, but the aura? So off, it feels like I'm walking into a Sears, which isn't a bad thing exactly, but I don't know, not my cup of tea if it were up to me—feels outdated, like a bad deal on nostalgia. And the food court? Very nice, folks, really classy setup, but it lacks wall outlets, which is a big sad, especially for service members who don't have a car and need to charge up while they're hanging out—no power, no glory, total miss! Three stars, could be yuge if they fixed the prices and plugged in some outlets!

This place is one of the worst NEX I’ve ever been to and it’s not family friendly. Sure, it’s big and a lot of shopping to be done but the prices are crazy high and the staff are rude. It’s very hot in the store every time I visit. So the sweating makes shopping unbearable. The worst part was our experience at the food court. There was 9 of us with 5 of those being little kids/babies. Once we finally ordered all our food from various places and we sat down trying to enjoy our meal, we notice they rope off half the food court where we are sitting thus trapping us inside. When we asked eachother, are they closing or something; the lady cleaning the food court snapped at us that they were closing that area of seating in 15 minutes to clean so we needed to hurry up and finish or we would have to move. It was very rude the way she went about it. There’s no sign stating this and they all watched us for 15 minutes getting situated and setting up there with all our little ones and no one out of the 3 cleaning staff working the area said a word. Not to mention it was 5pm and the food court was getting more crowded. I told her it would’ve been nice if someone would’ve told us that before we sat down and started eating with our large family. So we got up to start moving and she and her coworker tell us that we can have to 5:30 at that table and we should be able to eat in 30 minutes. We told them we would rather just go ahead and move so we wouldn’t have to be rushed with our little ones and eating with our family. She popped off rudely again and we just walked away to another table. She never once apologized. I feel like it wouldn’t have hurt a thing for them to let us just finish our meal in peace and then be on our way and they could mop that one table area after we left. Or just inform us that the area was closing before we even sit down. It was a terrible experience for us and our visiting family and not somewhere I want to take them again. The staff definitely need some training on how to treat people.

Tamara is one of the rudest people I have ever encountered. It is surprising to me they have people with that kind of horrible attitude working around the patrons of the NEX. I hope we don't ever have to deal with her again.

In the Navy Exchange, you can buy various items from video game consoles to furnitures. You will need an ID in order to shop there. The price is pretty reasonable, considering that you do not have to pay taxes. I would recommend shopping here, if you can. Overall, I had a good experience, and didn't have any negative experience.

This is a shopping mall for Navy or military related families.... Civilians can come here use its food court and take a look on its sales goods.... Yes, you can't checkout without a military status. It has everything like electronic appliances, food, daily items, even watches and jewelries... Nice place to give the people who protect our nation a good discount and respect.... A+++...
