For an unbeatable movie experience in Hampton Roads, look no further than Main Gate Movies. Their prices are incredibly reasonable, from the admission tickets to the concessions, making it a much more budget-friendly option than other local theaters. We always find a wide array of new releases and current movies to choose from, which is a huge plus. Though the interior has a charming, slightly retro feel, it's well-maintained and doesn't hinder the enjoyment of the film. It's become our family's go-to spot for movie night, and we absolutely love it!

The seats are very old and cracked. The screens are outdated which makes it hard to view night scenes in the movie. One speaker was buzzing the entire time and distracted my group from the movie. You get what you pay for here. The staff was nice and none of these problems were their fault. The entire place just needs a renovation.

Itβs a tired old movie theater, but the staff was friendly, the floors were clean- nothing sticky. Our chairs were a bit soft and stained. The $6 ticket price was nice. They have a lot of arcade games too.

Tickets are cheap which is nice. But concessions are expensive. I expected good quality concessions given the price but the popcorn was cold and flavorless. And the pop was mainly carbonated water without enough syrup. The lights didnt dim until after the movie started...they are supposed to dim during previews. The bathroom was sketchy with barely any water pressure to wash hands. Ultimately its a cheap movie experience, but expect bad quality concessions at an inflated price.

One star. My wife and I came here and this theater was a complete disappointment from start to finish. The seats were some of the most uncomfortable I have ever sat in, making it hard to enjoy any part of the movie. The place was noticeably dirty, with trash left behind from previous showings and floors that clearly had not been cleaned properly in a while. The popcorn was awful, stale, and flavorless, and they seemed to think a literal pinch of salt was enough for a large bucket. It tasted like it had been sitting out all day. On top of that, the employees were unprofessional and acted immaturely, as if they could not care less about the customers or their jobs. The only good thing about this theater is the low ticket price, but even then, it still does not justify putting up with such a poor experience. We would not recommend this place to anyone unless they are desperate to see a movie and do not mind being uncomfortable the entire time.
