This airport has always been friendly. Right now they are in a multi year construction project. Massive project. That said their entry way for drop offs and pick ups is well lit and gorgeous at night!

I recently attended a work conference in Orlando Fl. My trip to Orlando was seamless, but my trip coming home was a different story while on boarding my flight from Orlando to Chicago. I was asked to check my bag while it was already in the plane…. I understand when capacity is surpassed, and I agreed to check my bag. There was a gentleman in front of me and the flight attendant took my bag and his And pushed it into her cubby so she could tag it and bring our tickets to us at our seat while everybody still on the bridge had to back up and check their backs. During this time, the flight attendant asked my name and my seat number as she did the gentleman in front of me and said she would bring our baggage claim ticket to us once the flight onboarded completely. fast forward….. I arrived at my final destination to find that my luggage was not there even though I received text confirmation that it arrived many hours before me. After waiting for a very long time, I found a gentleman who worked for United Airlines, after explaining that my luggage was not at the baggage claim, he looked into it further and discovered that my luggage had been missed tagged because there was actually a suitcase with my tag that didn’t belong to me, and then everything became very clear. The flight attendant that chose to keep my suitcase and a gentleman’s in front of me swapped our tags. Finding this out was very disheartening. Personal belongings, and things that I needed to function at work the following day were in my suitcase. The gentleman helping me was Marquelyn Langhorne, I only know this, because I asked what his name was, and he gave it to me because he was the only person that seemed to be really trying or concerned to find my luggage and get it back to me! I arrived at my final destination on Wednesday, and did not receive my luggage until late Friday evening… again , only because the kind gentleman Marquelyn made it happen!!! I missed work because of these unforeseen circumstances. I am thankful to have my belongings back, but would like to think the gentleman who made it happen for me who actually prioritized me. I would like to give him a 5 star review!!!!!!! I really hope that United Airlines cares about my experience because it seems like this is a pretty far and few between circumstance….. and I am hoping to hear back from somebody about this situation.

I like flying out of FWA because the check-in process, security, and boarding is quick and easy. Low cost to park and little fuss is a great reason to choose FWA. The downside is that more than likely you will take a flight to a hub and this increases the risk of delays and getting stranded. In the winter, I go to a larger airport to reduce the risk but if I have plenty of time...FWA is my choice if the price is within $200.

The airport is currently undergoing renovations. It’s a quaint mid-sized airport with friendly and helpful staff, and clean restrooms. I thought a really special touch was a kind lady welcoming all arriving passengers with a gift of a small bag of delicious mini chocolate chip cookies. They were delicious!

Here we sit on the tarmac again due to no ground crew! This is a problem with FWA!! Pilot was told only one gate could be used and it has a plane sitting at it! Arrived early from CLT on American on a Monday, now we are sitting in the plane on the ground for one hour! Couldn't other ground crews help? American gates 10 and 9 are open and have been since we landed. Totally frustrating, FWA! If the problem is American, then help deal with it! You are the airport.

Despite the fact that this is one of the quickest airports I have experienced in getting in and out of it, it lacks many of the amenities one is used to at most big city and metro airports I’ve experienced. A major advantage here is its proximity to the city itself. Yet, I don’t deem it a bad one. In my occasions to regularly travel yet not a professional airport reviewer by any means, and not a business traveler – but a mainly fun and demands trekker, I have developed as succinct a process for measuring the worthiness of each airport visited. My criteria are: 1) ease of access to and from public or private ground transportation: 4.0; 2) convenient parking when having to leave vehicle or dropping off: 4.0; 3) access and convenience of retrieving and dropping off rental vehicles: 3.5; 4) atmosphere, ambience, public facilities, seating areas and access to communications, charging and Wi-Fi: 3.5; 5) overall human customer service – including but not limited to ticket counter, TSA, Hospitality, Retail, Support Services, Restaurant and Baggage Handler knowledge, communication, attitude and demeanor: 3.0; 6) ease of flight information access throughout facility via signage, boards, screens or clear understandable PA system announcements: 3.5; 7) distance, maneuverability, access and convenience of trekking from gate to gate and/or concourse to concourse for connecting flights: 4.0; 8) quantity, value, convenience, quality and comfort of eateries and/or retailers: 3.0; and last, but not least 9) baggage handling, claims and retrieval location, process and lost and found assistance: 4.5. Taking all the aforementioned categories, I've devised a scale of 1 to 5 with 1 being the worst and 5 being the best an airport can be! This airport rates a: 4.1. Most positive point(s) at this airport are: few and far between, but considering its construction phase, easy to maneuver, clean yet maize like. The most negative points here are: again, the lack of amenities plus. One caveat, while visiting this airport there was a considerable amount of construction in progress, which I am sure affected the overall outcome of my review. I therefore retain a prerogative to reevaluate Ft. Wayne International at a later date.

Nice airport, small and easy to navigate. Good restrooms. Long term parking simple. I usually fly out of Indy because my travel companion lives there. This time I went alone, so used ft Wayne which is closer to my home. Very convenient and easy.
