I paid full price for the professional cooking course, but to be honest, it felt like a waste of time. Most of the day was spent working in the kitchen, with only about an hour and a half dedicated to classroom learning—essentially, it felt like they just wanted free labor. Some of the instructors were genuinely great, willing to help if you showed real interest, but the way students were treated overall was disappointing. For instance, the food served in the bistro (the restaurant) was basically the same as what the students were given, except it was cooked with much more care. The student meals, by comparison, tasted terrible and lacked any effort in preparation. The office staff also had a frustrating habit of enforcing petty rules that didn’t make much sense or impact anyone. By the fourth week, I decided to drop out and got a refund. The value just didn’t match what I’d paid, nor the respect and quality I’d expected. I do not recommend coming here, they will just treat you like free labor.

A few weeks ago our company/committee rented the use of the CALV event rooms (3), which we included the AV systems, additional TVs and catering for breakfast and lunch. The entire team from the catering coordinators to the event staff were phenomenal. Each days event ran smoothly - there were no issues with the AV equipment, the food was delicious; everyone really enjoyed the Southwest meal, and the staff were so helpful and respectful of our time and learning sessions. After the event we received amazing feedback from many of our attendees. Going forward, we will definitely keep CALV in mind when planning upcoming events.

I've taken 4 classes at the academy and It's been a great experience everytime..The front staff are super nice and are helpful. They make it easy for everyone to get an education! I've heard of expensive schools and why pay more when you can reach your goals here! As a union employee I didn't have to pay anything! That's something to brag about. Thank you so much for having an accessible school at accessible price! I sound like a sales person but it could be so much easier not to have this program and we are blessed to have it !!!

I was about to go here so I can work on the strip.. but the front receptionist Nora had a issue with me. I was always happy and friendly with her and she was great at times, but this time, it seems she was emotionally agitated and when I was inquiring about my start date. She became verbally offensive towards me and even called me a racial slur. I wanted the report line so I can report what happened. The front receptionist refused and told me no one will believe me cause im black!! .. needless to say, I was rejected from attending the program when I didn't do anything to them. No cops was called ,no report was made.. they just went off what she falsely claimed what happened and they still used my fasfa. I filed a lawsuit through ERC and it seemed like that was paid off by the academy to defend their side all because I didn't have a recording of her saying it. But how are they allowed to go by a lie she told instead of fixing the issue. To me this place is really horrible. Now I have to look for another program for culinary arts since I am with the union, even they refused to help.
