Stayed a couple of nights. Nice size room and bathroom very close to airport and still quiet. Airport shuttle ride was a short distance away. There’s a bus stop within walking distance but a little challenging to get there. Nice breakfast with good options in the morning. Restaurants are not close (walkable) so a car or delivery are best option. One of the more reasonably priced for Anchorage high season but fills up fast.

First impression was ok. Our greeting could have been more pleasant because we were made to feel like an inconvenience. Then the room… it smelled like strong BO. We had to run to Walmart to get febreeze and an air freshener. Our king sized bed was horrible. Only 1 of us could get decent sleep, depending on who got the flat side and who got the sagged slanted side. We wanted to escape the room and do some swimming, but the pool was closed during 3 of 4 of our days there. I definitely will not be staying here when I come back to Anchorage.

Apparently they will not rent rooms to Anchorage residents. A fact that was not made cleatmr when I made a reservation and had to include my address. And it will take 5 to 10 days to get a refund. Great job. Will never even think about staying at a comfort suites ever again.

I have stayed many times at this hotel. Most of the time I have been there on business trips. On my last visit to Anchorage the girlfriend of a former client found out that I was in town. Someone told her I was staying at the Comfort Suites. With no prior notice she showed up uninvited at the motel and was waiting in the driveway when I returned from having dinner. She wanted to speak to me about some legal issues involving her former boyfriend and I told her I would speak with her. She followed me into the motel. The lobby was full so I let her come back to my room where we could talk in private. I was unaware that she had been consuming alcohol and, in fact, had a partially consumed bottle of vodka hidden in her jacket. She was there for about 40 minutes and I asked her to leave. She wanted to continue discussing her legal problems involving her former boyfriend. After another 20 or 30 minutes I was finally able to get her to leave the room but she was making noise in the hallway. I went to the front desk and spoke with a male employee. I explained to him that she was not a guest, that she was not traveling with me, that I had not invited her there, and that she was intoxicated. I asked him to make her leave. He told me if she was causing problems I should call the police. I followed his advice and called the police who came and removed her from the building. Several weeks later I had to come back into Anchorage for several days for work. I asked my employer to book my lodging at the Comfort Suites. I planned to stay there for 3 nights. I showed up in the early evening to check in. The front desk worker told me I was "banned" from ever staying at this motel again. She went and got her manager who told me the owner had "banned" me because I called the police. I told him that I only called the police because the hotel staff had told me to. This was very embarrassing and humiliating because I had to arrange after hours on very short notice to stay somewhere else. I was surprised that I was apparently "banned" because someone else had showed up uninvited and insisting on having a conversation with me. Further, even though I had previously stayed at this motel on numerous occasions and paid several thousand dollars to do so, I was "banned" from ever staying there without any notice whatsoever. The owner apparently lacked the decency to call me or send me an email. I realize this is a unique situation and not likely to repeat itself however I am floored at the utter disrespect for a loyal repeat customer because of an incident that was beyond my control. It seems like a little respect and courteous treatment by management would go a long way.

Our disappointing experience began at check-in. While I was on the phone and helping my daughters organize our luggage, my wife went inside to check us in. She was told she couldn’t complete the process and that her husband had to do it instead. We’ve traveled extensively across the U.S., staying at many hotels—including several Comfort Inns—and have never encountered this kind of policy. It felt unnecessary and frankly discriminatory. When I went in to handle the check-in, the staff member was noticeably rude and abrupt. I have intermittent hearing issues and asked for clarification a couple of times, but instead of showing patience, the staff member responded with visible frustration and a stern attitude. I requested a room on the third floor, but was told the hotel was completely booked and that, because we booked through a third-party site, there was no flexibility to change rooms. This was another first for us. Comfort Inn accepts third-party reservations, and guests shouldn’t be penalized for using them—especially when traveling to a destination like Alaska, where costs are high and discounts matter. We also found the claim that the hotel was “fully booked” questionable. The parking lot was nearly empty late at night and early in the morning, and the breakfast area was sparsely populated—hardly what you’d expect from a sold-out hotel. The issues didn’t stop there. One of the main reasons we chose this hotel was the pool, which was closed during our stay. We had looked forward to using it the morning of our flight to relax after several days of hiking. With four people sharing one room, we also planned to use the public restrooms to help speed up our morning routine—but those were out of order too. Our room had several maintenance problems: • The temperature was uncomfortably hot, and we had to set the A/C to 62°F just to get it working. • The sink outside the bathroom drained slowly, and I had to partially unclog it myself. • The bathroom door wouldn’t close properly due to loose hinge screws and had to be leaned on to shut. • The shower handle was loose. • The complimentary shower soap dispenser was empty. • One of the lamp shades looked dirty and neglected. Overall, this stay fell far below our expectations. We spent a significant amount of money on this trip and chose Comfort Inn based on past positive experiences. Unfortunately, this location did not live up to the standard we’ve come to expect—and in some ways, it felt like we were being punished for how we booked and who handled the check-in.
