Stopped in today because we ate at Cajun Tex Marshall 6 years ago when our daughter was going to ETBU. All I remember was I really liked the Boudin Balls. The Boudin Ball’s are just as I remember, fantastic!! The Shrimp Po-boy is really good too. Not too many places make good hush puppies but they do them right. The stuffed shrimp had a great flavor and a nice crust. 3pm on a Monday and the place is empty. Place your order at the counter and seat yourself. The girls bathroom was somewhat clean but the floors are sticky and I was told the guys bathroom needs cleaned.

In town for a business meeting and was recommended this place. Absolutely great food and staff. Whenever I'm back in town this will be my 1st and last stop in and out.

I met some friends in Marshall for lunch and chose Cajun Tex because of the good reviews. Ordering was easy and the girl at the register was very nice. We each ordered the same lunch special, fried fish and shrimp platter. It was so-so. The shrimp was extremely salty. The fish was good, according to my friends, but I found it a bit undercooked and too soft. The lone hushpuppie had corn in it and was okay, but the fries were amazingly yummy! We also got 1 bowl of seafood gumbo to share because we wanted to try it out. First of all, don't order the gumbo. Just don't. We have all eaten gumbo throughout our lives and honestly, this was the worst gumbo we've ever had. It was more like some brown gravy that didn't taste right even before seafood was added. It was bad. The restaurant floor was extremely sticky, and the ladies restroom needed a good scrub down. I can't really say if I'd recommend Cajun Tex since I haven't tried much from the menu, but I would say if you go, the one thing I would recommend would be the fries.

Cajun Tex in Marshall, TX is a fantastic spot for bold Cajun flavors with a Texas twist. The food is packed with rich, authentic seasoning, featuring standout dishes like blackened voodoo shrimp, gumbo, and crawfish etouffee. The seafood platters are generous, and the boudin balls are a must-try. The service is warm and welcoming, with a friendly staff ensuring guests feel at home. While the order-at-the-counter setup might not be for everyone, the quick service and cozy atmosphere make up for it. Overall, Cajun Tex delivers big flavors, great service, and a true taste of the South, making it a go-to spot for both locals and visitors.

We loved the food. I had a poboy ½ shrimp ½ crawfish. So good. The shrimp were large and real and didn’t have the preservative that keeps it rubbery and translucent. My only complaint was they didn’t serve a bottled or filtered water. It was tap or soda. I didn’t care for the dirty rice. It was heavy on either the bay leaf or old bay seasoning.
