I took the Downeaster from Boston to Brunswick and my journey began at this station. It's small, with limited seating and tables as you wait for your train. It was nice to see the fare gates for security purposes, and there was security assistance walking around. I felt safe there during my 30 minutes inside. My train was on time and I had no issues in the station as I waited. Limited food choices and no restroom inside the fare gates. Good choices outside though. and it was clean. The pigeons...entertaining. The people, not so much.

The first employee we encountered was very nice and helpful. Then when leaving, the ticket location and the boards ticket information didn’t match. My ticket says we will arrive at one stop, but the board says a whole different town. I went up to an employee, and he cut me off, told me passive aggressively “Just look at that big board in front of you, and look at your ticket, and match the times.” I was about to explain to him that I was confused that the board and ticket didn’t match, but before I could say anything he turned completely away from me and walked away. So rude, and unhelpful.

If you’re traveling to or from Boston Logan Airport, consider skipping the Uber and traveling light by using the commuter train instead. North Station is a gateway to many destinations around Boston, and with its frequent metro and commuter train services, it’s both an easy and enjoyable way to travel. While you may not save much money compared to taking an Uber directly to the airport, the train experience is worth it. Why? Because even with the train, you’ll likely still need to take an Uber or get dropped off at your nearest commuter train station. The cost difference ends up being minimal, but the train ride lets you enjoy the local scenery - which is truly beautiful - and connect with the community, which is equally delightful. North Station itself is well-engineered and intuitive, making navigation straightforward even for first-time visitors. The staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly, adding a personal touch to the journey. The station is also served by a clean and diverse food hub, perfect for grabbing a quick bite, along with staples like Dunkin’ and McDonald’s for those looking for something familiar. North Station offers a seamless and enjoyable travel experience that’s much more than just a transit hub - it’s a slice of Boston’s charm and efficiency.

There are some pros and cons to North Station. Pros: Star Market is conveniently located on the premise. This makes grocery shopping before commuting home easy. There is a food court with various food cuisines in the station. I sometimes grab a quick bite before heading down to the station. Cons: It could be cleaner and the alley next to the station could be safer (and cleaner). This station could also use a few more food options in the station itself. Right now there's McDonalds and Dunkin' Donut. There could be more seating areas also! The bathrooms could also be cleaner.
