I fly Frontier almost exclusively. The Austin South Terminal makes you feel like you've stepped back in time to the golden age of air travel. The terminal is so much less hassle than the regular terminal and they have outdoor seating where you can sit and watch the planes. Also, the free WiFi outside is incredibly fast and I was able to download two movies in 5 minutes before my flight. The Frontier agents always seem to be doing a good job. This trip, Frontier agent Naghmeh was quick to help customers when the bag kiosks were malfunctioning and then was super friendly during the boarding process...reminding me how much I enjoy flying Frontier.

It was a nice and short passing to the terminal! I parked my car at economy parking lot and walked here and went through the security within 5 mins! Nice and easy access! My flight was 6 am and I got here 5:20 am but still got inside the airplane by 5:35 am. Of course, I don’t recommend this tight schedule but if it happened, this place may be still fine. It’s a small airport.

It’s a small airport that got pretty crowded. The security was fine not super quick or anything. I’m not a fan of the Allegiant app/booking system but for the price I can expect anything more than that.

Using this terminal means you used one of the two budget airlines, so I didn’t expect anything amazing, but I was still extremely underwhelmed by south terminal. My flight was at 10AM on a weekday and it took me over an hour to get through security. There was one line/entrance and everyone who had pre-check bypassed everyone else any time they hopped in line. Upon arrival there are slim options for food and such, but they do have a small corner market and a food truck outside on the “patio.” I paid $12 for an old soggy pb&j. The terminal was so packed that the only available seat was outside, and that’s even with folks sitting on the floor. Outside on the patio, you can enjoy food from the truck while inhaling jet fumes, since the planes are 100 yards away and the exhaust faces you.

Want to feel like ELVIS?? This is a THOUSAND times better than the Barbara Jordan (main) terminal, which should be torn down and replaced with a dozen of these. All airports should be this size, with your car parked just a 5 MINUTE WALK away. It has the usual indoor, but also OUTDOOR shaded area with food, drinks, cornhole, and comfortable seating and table options. A 15-SECOND WALK from the front door of the terminal to TSA checkpoint, then another 20-SECOND WALK to your gate. This place TAKES 95% OF THE STRESS OUT OF FLYING. How anyone gives it a low review doesn't make sense to me. I feel like I OWN MY OWN AIRPORT! Seriously. If you've been to an airport with only 3 or 4 gates, then you know what I mean. This one has two so even better that those. Come on, Austin, tear down the STRESS CREATOR and give us more like this. We can name them "Barbara Jordan 1" through "Barbara Jordan 12."
