I joined Rocky Road for an incredible and unforgettable trip to Afghanistan. The tour was impeccably organized and well-run. The scenery and excursions were outstanding, and our local tour guide (Rohullah) was exceptional. Overall the experience was magnificent. Honestly, I have no idea what will happen nor what to expect. Both Hayder and Tom were very accommodating. They have extended efforts to make our trip as enjoyable and informative as possible. We have booked several bespoke tours with Shane at Rocky Road Travel over the past five year – in Asia and Africa, generally pretty hard-to-reach places that require insider knowledge of security and logistics that we ourselves are unable to figure out. Shane has been totally amazing – he’s communicative, everything runs perfectly (often in quite challenging circumstances), and we have been paired with some of the best guides and drivers we have ever encountered. We joined the New Year's Eve trip to visit Mauritania and ride the iron ore train, and wow, what an incredible experience. Prior to the trip, communication was always very clear, and from the moment we arrived, it was clear how well organised everything was on the ground. Our Rocky Road tour leader Zoe was fantastic, she made sure everyone in the group was looked after and kept us entertained and informed. Our local guide Mohammed was an absolute legend, he had everything in hand and was very informative about all things Mauritanian. Our drivers were great and the vehicles very comfortable. The itinerary was fantastic, showing us the best of what Mauritania has to offer. It is an incredibly beautiful country, and was certainly a revelation. As for the Iron Ore train, it is hard to think of an adventure to top that, it was incredible, and I cannot think of a better way to have seen in the New Year. This definitely won't be our last Rocky Road trip, they really know their stuff and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

Our trip leader, Irmante, was extraordinary! I can’t say enough great things about Rocky Road and the whole team. There are so many amazing places around the world that folks don’t even think about visiting. Rocky Road and their amazing crew of trip leaders (like Irmante) go so far above and beyond to make every aspect of adventure travel safe, easy, and fun. 10/10, would recommend!
