I cannot overstate this: avoid American Airlines at all costs. My recent experience with them has been nothing short of a living nightmare—a masterclass in incompetence, disrespect, and outright negligence. If there’s a worse airline on this planet, I’d be shocked. It all began with a flight delay, supposedly because the crew needed their required 10 hours of rest. Fair enough, right? Except American Airlines apparently had no backup plan whatsoever. It’s like they didn’t realize this rule existed until five minutes before departure. The delay caused us to miss our connecting flight, which they made no effort to hold despite knowing an entire group of passengers was affected. When we landed in Miami, our connecting flight was literally taking off, and the gate agents couldn’t have cared less. We were told to “figure it out” and directed to customer service, where we waited in line for over two hours only to be told there were no other flights available for the day. That’s right—no rebooking, no priority status, nothing. We were stuck in Miami for over 12 hours. But wait, it gets worse. They outright refused to provide any form of assistance. No meal vouchers, no hotel accommodations, no compensation, nothing. We were left stranded in the airport, exhausted, hungry, and completely on our own. To add insult to injury, my checked luggage was lost, and their baggage claim team had no idea where it was. I was left without clothes, toiletries, or anything else for an entire day. The flight itself was an utter disgrace. The plane looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks. There were crumbs and trash stuffed in the seat pockets, sticky stains on the armrests, and a horrible smell throughout the cabin. The seats were so cramped I couldn’t sit comfortably, and the in-flight entertainment system didn’t work at all. The crew was outright hostile. One flight attendant snapped at a passenger for asking for water, while another ignored the call button for over an hour. When an elderly passenger asked for assistance with their carry-on, the attendant actually sighed and muttered under their breath before begrudgingly helping. It was appalling. As if this wasn’t bad enough, the airline refused to take any responsibility for the chaos they caused. When I finally got through to customer service, I was offered nothing but excuses and indifference. To top it all off, when we finally reached our destination, we experienced an absurd 40-minute delay just trying to deplane. The plane was parked one foot too far forward for the gate bridge to connect, and it took the crew nearly an hour to figure out how to fix the problem. This ridiculous lack of attention to detail only made an already miserable trip even worse. This experience with American Airlines has been nothing short of traumatic. They’ve proven they don’t care about their passengers’ time, money, or well-being. I’ve traveled with budget airlines that treated me better than this. I will never fly American Airlines again, and I wouldn’t wish this experience on my worst enemy. Stay far, far away.

Greyhound of the skies, but worse. DOGE, if you’re listening, please come put this pathetic excuse for an airline out of its misery. Where to begin? AA (just realizing this is also and aptly the acronym for Alcoholics Anonymous, where flying with these people will land me if I make the mistake of booking with them again) seems to take immense pride in its underperformance. The pilots are consistently undercommunicative. They don’t explain, apologize, or even acknowledge delays. AA seems to command no respect from airports. Their planes get back of the bus treatment at take off and landing. AA is always last in line.

They are literally rude. I honestly do not think that I will ever fly them again. They delayed my flight by 3 hours, and they were not even remotely professional about it.

Traveling in Principal Plus class on American Airlines flight 905 from Miami to Rio de Janeiro was a complete disappointment. I paid almost $1,700 expecting superior service, but what I received was the complete opposite. The food I was served was the same as in Basic Class: the only option was chicken or pasta, and dessert consisted of a simple brownie bar and wooden cutlery. Water was given to me in a cup, and when I asked for coffee, I was told they didn't have any. The headphones they provided were no longer the large and comfortable ones they once were, but much more basic. To top it all off, the stewardesses' attitude left much to be desired: they were unwilling and unhelpful. It's unacceptable that prices have risen so much and that service has declined to this extent. What is promised in Principal Plus is not delivered. Without a doubt, it was a terrible experience that leaves much to be desired about the value American Airlines provides its passengers.

American Airlines is horrible. Constant delays, horrible staff and they lost my luggage. Thumbs down
