We fly monthly on all different airlines across the world so are pretty well used to every aspect of airports and airplanes. This particular flight on American Airlines wasn't so good. Our seats where 1A and 1C, great seats and easy to exit on arrival, sadly our air hostess wasn't so nice. She never smiled, was constantly abrupt and distracted. Her whole attitude felt as if she just didn't want to be at work. When I went to the toilet I saw her sleeping in the crew seat. Later when I ordered some wine it never arrived even though she was right beside me, had to ask again which didn't sit well with her. Definitely not a great flight to NY. Happiness works well for staff we find on most airlines, the price of the tickets aren't cheap so asking for kindness doesn't seem to be much.

Four of us were traveling from Barcelona to JFK. My wife and daughter made the flight while I was in the hospital and my son stayed behind to help me out. At the airport my wife informed the agent of the situation and was told not to worry, we would be able to change our flight with no fee, all we needed was a fit-to-fly note from the doctor. The next day, I went to change the tickets (note in hand) for my son and I and was told there was a $310 charge (per person) to change the ticket and then they couldn't get me home for two days. Nobody even asked to see my fit-to-fly note. It's like the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. We were forced to pay to get home and when checking into the flight 3-hours prior, we were met with an hour long line at Barcelona to check in, even though we had already checked in on the app and needed to only check our bags. American had multiple flights leaving at around the same time and they didn't even have an agent staffing every terminal. On the flight they ran out of one type of meal and everyone near the back of the plane had no choice. The temperature in the cabin was so cold people were in bundling up in blankets, jackets and hoodies. I even planned ahead, wore long pants and a light jacket on a hot summer day and I was still freezing. I was so uncomfortable I got a bad headache and became nauseous immediately after the meal as the airflow from the ceiling (not my individual vent) of the 777 was blowing in full force. After returning home, I complained to customer service about the entire situation and asked for a refund on the fee they made me pay to change my ticket. Adding insult to injury, customer service is so bad, all I received was an automated response. They don't even have the decency to have an actual person respond. We have a choice in air travel and this experience goes in long way in helping me choose.

The worst travel experience we have ever had. American Airlines is a disgrace to aviation. If they truly cared about people, they would do humanity a favor by shutting down operations. I bought a trip as a gift for my sister and brother-in-law (Belém–New York–Belém), but what should have been a dream turned into a true nightmare because of American Airlines. On the way there, the flight was canceled with the excuse of bad weather, but it was clearly a lie. They spent the entire day at the airport, from 6 a.m. until night, without any support from the airline. My sister became so exhausted from walking that she needed a wheelchair, and even then the company refused to provide food or any kind of assistance. On the return, the same neglect happened again: they canceled the flight at LaGuardia and sent them to JFK without transport, without vouchers, without food, and without any consideration. The inhumane treatment, the lack of respect, and the indifference to passengers’ suffering are simply unacceptable.

Absolutely love AA… Don’t always have the best experience, but I do fly weekly and have flown nearly all domestic (and many int’l) brands throughout my many years and AA overall is my selection. Quite tired of all the negative reviews, mostly from inexperience, non-business travels who are very inflexible and/or have no clue how to schedule connecting flights or ow to properly pack or what to expect when utilizing air travel, which are 99% of the 1 or 2 star reviews for most any airline, especially the extremely large ones like AA. My experience isn’t inline with these negative reviews and I use AA weekly. 95% of the experience is very positive, mostly ontime, comfy, and professional. Highly recommend AA!

    * Flight was summer of 2022* Booked thru 3rd party and decided to go with American Airlines for my flights from Newark Liberty to Charlotte Douglas AA1376 on 5/26, and returning Charlotte Douglas to Newark Liberty AA636 on 5/28. Going down was a breeze flight was quick one hour & 45 mins, we came in to Charlotte Douglas "low & quick". Actually was there quicker than expected with was great. Coming back was a situation upon itself 🙄. AA636 Charlotte Douglas - Newark Liberty. The flight was quickly loaded, pushed back, engines were spooled and we were given clearance to taxi. Got to the end of the taxiway and waited, we sat there for 10/15 minutes before it was told to us that 1. Due to the weather earlier in the NYC area flights were delayed. 2. The weights & balances weren't called in. So after 45 mins of sitting there we taxied back to the gate due to time restrictions on the crew, & after 30 mins of sitting at the gate, new crew members, & a refueling we were given clearance to push back &taxi. Moved away from the gate & sat there for 15 mins, once again had to return to gate due to a communication issue. Sat at the gate for an hour so they could fix the problem, lo & behold it was done. And for the 3rd time we were given clearance with immediate take off. The pilot & Co pilot quickly, promptly, & professionally took us to the taxiway then runway, and quickly to the sky. Was scheduled to takeoff at 1:47pm finally got airborne around 5:30pm. Flight was smooth after the situations & the crew handled it extremely well. My guess is other than the weather, the flight gods (🤣😂) picked AA636 to inconvenience for the day. Could have been way worse. Got some good views from the air..
