Always a good time flying from here definitely be there at least 3 hours before. You’d be surprised how fast time flies by and you also get to be aware to move if they change your gate entrance and not miss your flight if you show up at the wrong gate. Don’t forget a sweatshirt since some of those waiting areas are really cold

    * Tijuana Airport is known for its large volume of domestic traffic and, above all, for its innovative binational connection with the United States via the Cross Border Xpress (CBX). It serves as a main gateway for those traveling between Southern California (primarily San Diego) and more than 40 destinations throughout Mexico. The Main Feature: Cross Border Xpress (CBX) What makes Tijuana Airport unique worldwide is the CBX. It is a 120-meter enclosed pedestrian bridge that directly crosses the border between the airport's main terminal in Tijuana and a satellite terminal in San Diego, California (Otay Mesa). It allows passengers flying to or from Tijuana to avoid the long lines at traditional land border crossings. If you land at Tijuana and want to go to the US, or if you are in San Diego and are flying out of Tijuana, the CBX is your best option. Services at CBX (San Diego side): The US terminal at CBX offers airline counters, ticket counters for crossing tickets, US customs and immigration, long-term parking, shops, and ground transportation options (shuttles, car rentals, taxis, etc.). Tijuana International Airport (TIJ) is one of the five busiest airports in Mexico by passenger volume, handling millions of passengers annually. Domestic Hub: It is the main hub for Volaris and a major focus city for Viva Aerobus. This translates into an extensive network of domestic routes with very competitive prices. It connects Tijuana with more than 40 cities in Mexico, including key destinations such as Cancún, Mexico City (AICM and AIFA), Guadalajara, Monterrey, Puerto Vallarta, Culiacán, and many others. The civil/commercial terminal is divided into two concourses (Concourse A and Concourse B) with a total of 23 boarding gates. The facilities are constantly being renovated and expanded to handle the growing traffic.

At this airport, I had an unpleasant situation with my family. When we arrived from China, at security, they took us to a separate room and began interrogating us. We didn't have a problem with that; we understood that these were the rules. They let us go, and we almost missed our flight to Mexico City. They stamped our passports with a 150-day stay permit, with the date indicated. We stayed in the country for 130 days and decided to return. But when we were about to fly back to Tijuana and return home from there, we were detained by immigration officers at the Puerto Vallarta airport. It turned out that the stay date in our passports was incorrect. The immigration system didn't show a 150-day permit, but only a 15-day permit. They arrested us and, at night, without an escort, drove us and our children to Guadalajara, a city three hours from Puerto Vallarta. They took all our phones, and we were unable to communicate with anyone. During the journey, the driver ignored any speed limits. The children became dizzy and began vomiting. At night, they took us to another immigration office, where they interrogated us all night. The place was very cold. The children fell ill the first night. In the morning, they transferred us to another office, where they interrogated us again. Then they took us to the airport, put us on a plane, and took us to the capital. During the landing, the plane was very frightening, as it was shaking a lot and everyone was screaming. We had to walk a long way. They removed all our belts and shoelaces. My wife had leg injuries and couldn't walk quickly without the laces on her special shoes, but the immigration staff didn't care and just hurried us along. We stayed at the airport immigration office for several more hours, then they took us to the main immigration office. It was already the third night. There, they interrogated us again, woke us up, and interrogated us again. At night, it was very cold with the shiny metal blankets they gave us. These blankets were very noisy and woke everyone up. Sleep was impossible. The next morning, they took us to a shelter in the city of Pachuca, where they assured us they would release us, but there they told us they wouldn't release us until Monday. Several families then made a scene, and we were finally released. All this lasted more than three days. It wasn't until the fifth day that we arrived in Mexico City, instead of leaving Puerto Vallarta and arriving in Tijuana in two hours. Later, we realized that the immigration officer had intentionally entered the wrong date, because it's possible to make a mistake on a passport, but making four mistakes is impossible. As a result, the whole family became ill; our autistic son had a nervous breakdown and felt very ill. We entered the country on September 16, 2024. Greetings to this kind immigration officer at the Tijuana airport who made us go through such suffering.

Something happened to me at this airport. The guy who was checking me, because he was in such a hurry, almost poked me in the eye. I told him he needs to be more careful when checking people. I hope they see this message so they can take action and reprimand him. That's why I'm giving this airport one star—because of people like him.

It's centrally located. It's easy to cross into the United States. Its facilities appear clean and tidy. The staff is friendly. They are empathetic and supportive of people with disabilities. Disembarkation and baggage claim were quick and efficient. There are many shops to choose from. No problems checking in or boarding. The entire process was very fast. It appears safe and reliable.
