I am a front line worker (Respiratory Therapist)(I run the ventilators) and I am currently helping fight the Covid-19 pandemic in McAllen, TX. August 26th, 2020 I booked a round trip flight home to OKC to visit my family. Upon arrival I was notified by email that my return flight was cancelled. They gave me an option to reschedule or refund my balance. I chose a refund because United was not flying through Houston which was my connection city. I was told that my refund would be issued within 7-14 business days. 12 days later I called to verify that my refund was processing correctly and the agent assured me that my refund would be issued within the time stated. September 16th is here and I still haven't received my refund. Now an agent tells me that the prior agent entered my information wrong.. How? I don't know because my information is already in their system from booking the flight. I'm not one to down anyone and I'm very fair. This is my second assignment in South Texas. It's already hard being away from my family for so long. I'm not rich and I have small kids who depend on me, therefore a large portion of my paycheck is sent back home to my kids. I sent what was left of my savings to my kids in hopes that my refund would be issued on time. Now I am without food and other necessities until my next payday. I found out about 10 minutes ago that it will be another 7-14 business days until my refund is issued๐. I understand there are others besides myself who are waiting on their refunds as well, but this just isn't right. It didn't take 7-14 business days to debit the money from my account. I don't know what I will do between now and payday about food and transportation. This airline has been a nightmare. I now travel with American Airlines and the customer service is top notch! American Airlines got me back to my assignment after United left me stranded! I never have a problem with AA. I will not be using United Airlines anymore in the future. As a matter of fact, my RT coworkers all have similar complaints about United. They also cancel anytime mother nature sneezes. They will literally let you suffer for 7-14 business days๐. If you are traveling to or from South Texas, please avoid this problem! The chances of something going wrong is extremely high! Book with American Airlines!!!!
