Outbound: More than 2 hours of delay, which caused me to miss my connection in New York and force me to spend the night near the airport. Since United only gave me $20 USD in compensation with the hotel, I couldn't afford breakfast the next day. Before leaving, I couldn't find a single member of the airline despite calls from other airlines. After the flight, the staff was extremely rude and told me to get lost after I asked about the compensation, which seemed insufficient to me (and rightly so, given my experience). Return: Another more than 2 hours of delay and another unexpected night in New York. More than an hour of waiting for the shuttle, which never arrived since United hadn't called to let them know they were coming to pick us up. There was no restaurant at the hotel, so I went to bed hungry. The $20 USD was used for breakfast at the airport. The extra day of parking for my car cost me $30 CAD, but I never got any compensation for it. After a (too) long complaint and a (too) long email exchange, United agreed to offer me $250 USD for a future flight with them. A pittance that has no value since I don't plan on flying with them a second time. They agreed to convert it for another Star Alliance member, which I accepted (I didn't have much choice after a while). I've been waiting for a refund from United Airlines for my Air Canada flight for almost a month, and they continue to treat me like a fool. Waste of time, money, energy Gain of stress, fatigue, and irritation
