Terrible Customer Service – Avoid Turkish Airlines at All Costs! I’m extremely disappointed and honestly furious with Turkish Airlines. We had two tickets from Istanbul to Vancouver for Iranian passengers who were supposed to travel from Tehran to Istanbul. The tickets were non-refundable and non-changeable, and unfortunately, due to the war situation and unrest in Tehran, the passengers couldn’t safely make it to Istanbul. We contacted Turkish Airlines multiple times, hoping for some basic flexibility or human understanding — even just a date change, partial credit, or any form of support. But they did absolutely nothing. No help, no care, no solution. Just repeated the same copy-paste answer about “fare rules.” So now we’re out nearly $2,300 CAD — money completely gone — not because of a personal change of plan, but because of a war and real safety issues. I honestly expected better from an international airline. The lack of empathy, the complete absence of customer service, and the rigid, heartless policies showed me exactly what Turkish Airlines stands for: money over people. I will never book with Turkish Airlines again and strongly warn others: if anything unexpected happens, you’re on your own. They won’t lift a finger.

We were originally supposed to fly from Tehran to Vancouver with Turkish Airlines. However, due to the ongoing war situation, we had to change our departure city to Van, Turkey, and travel there ourselves. This meant driving over 1,200 km and crossing an international border with two small children just to catch our flight from Van to Vancouver. Despite the emergency circumstances, Turkish Airlines showed no flexibility or compassion. They charged us $1,400 just to change the departure city, without any consideration for the fact that we were fleeing a dangerous situation. To make things worse, the new flight they provided was 36 hours long, including a 21-hour layover in Istanbul—far longer than our original 18-hour itinerary. When we arrived in Istanbul and asked for hotel accommodation to rest during the long layover, the staff at the hotel desk coldly refused, telling us “the war is not our problem.” We were shocked by the lack of empathy, especially towards a family with young children traveling under such stressful conditions. Abusing or neglecting people who are not responsible for the war and are simply trying to travel safely with their families is completely unacceptable. We did not ask for special treatment—only basic decency and understanding, which Turkish Airlines failed to provide. Customer service was completely unhelpful, and no one took responsibility for the situation. Turkish Airlines not only failed us in terms of service and logistics, but also in basic human values. We will never fly with Turkish Airlines again and strongly advise others—especially families—not to rely on them in times of need or crisis.

Like many others, I’ve had a very disappointing experience with Turkish Airlines. Their flights themselves are fine, but the real problem begins when you need to deal with their customer service. We flew internationally with them in March 2025, and one of our checked bags arrived broken. We followed the instructions on their website, submitted all required documents and photos, and our claim was approved. However, despite this, we have been waiting over SIX MONTHS for reimbursement. Turkish Airlines has since stopped responding to our messages through their system. An airline’s true quality shows when problems arise, and unfortunately, Turkish Airlines has failed completely in this regard. I have to agree with the many other reviewers that their customer service is simply UNACCEPTABLE.

Turkish Airlines Cancelled My Flight and Ignored Refund Request for Months I am writing to express my extreme disappointment and frustration with Turkish Airlines. I had a flight booked from Vancouver to Turkey on October 15, 2024, which was cancelled by Turkish Airlines due to the worsening geopolitical situation between Iran and Israel. While I understand the safety concerns, I was assured by Turkish Airlines that I would receive a full refund for the cancelled flight. It has now been over 8 months, and I have not received any refund. Despite more than 50 attempts to contact Turkish Airlines via email, phone calls, and online forms, I have received no response, no support, and no resolution. The complete lack of communication and customer service is unacceptable and disgraceful for a company of this size. I am extremely angry, disappointed, and heartbroken that I’ve been treated this way. I placed my trust in Turkish Airlines, but now I feel cheated and ignored. This situation has caused me emotional stress, financial loss, and a total lack of trust in your airline. I demand that you process my refund immediately and provide a clear explanation . • Consumer protection agencies • Aviation regulatory authorities • Travel forums and review

My experience with Turkish Airlines was overall positive, earning it a solid 4-star rating. Here’s the breakdown: **The Good:** - The in-flight service was excellent. The flight attendants were friendly, attentive, and went out of their way to make the journey comfortable. - The food was surprisingly good for airline meals. I appreciated the variety of options, including Turkish specialties, which added a nice cultural touch. - The entertainment system had a wide selection of movies, TV shows, and music, which made the long flight more enjoyable. - Istanbul Airport (for connecting flights) is modern and well-organized, making transfers relatively smooth. **The Not-So-Good:** - While the seats were decent, they could have been more comfortable, especially on long-haul flights. A bit more legroom would have made a big difference. - The boarding process felt a bit chaotic at times, and it seemed like there could have been better organization to streamline things. - Delays, though not extreme, were noticeable on one of my flights, which was a bit frustrating. **Conclusion:** Turkish Airlines offers great value for money, especially if you’re looking for a comfortable and culturally rich flying experience. While there’s room for improvement in terms of seat comfort and boarding efficiency, the overall experience was pleasant, and I’d definitely consider flying with them again.
