Very small airport serving the northern, I-81 portion of Tennessee and the southwest portion of Virginia. Only a quick 20 minute ride from Bristol, VA/TN and about 30 mins from Abingdon. Service from all those I encountered was friendly. The only issue is the poor signage when coming off of I-81 and needing to know where to go/turn to get to the airport and then to rental car return. Once on the airport property, it’s easy to find where to return the car. Overall, not a bad airport for a very small, regional airport.

The ticket lady refused to check my baggage because I showed up 43 minutes prior to departure, which is by any real world standards plenty of time here at this airport. This is a small airport and not busy. Missed my flight and an important meeting because of “policy” that removes an employee or airport the autonomy to make a rational human decision. Anyway, I guess that’s the direction we are heading. Really disappointed in how I was treated here. East TN used to be full of nice people. Otherwise the airport is nice and easy with mostly friendly staff.

Very small airport. I was kinda sad they didn’t have a Starbucks on site so I could pick up the state mug. Aside from this bummer, overall great airport - very clean and things moved along smoothly. I arrived a bit too early for my flight and didn’t have a whole lot to do. Bring a book!

Nice regional airport. TSA has two seperate security lines for either standard TSA and TSA pre-check. Everything regardless of which line you use requires carry on bags, personal items, miscellaneous items must be place and n the large bins and make it's way through the 3D x-ray scanner. It's home to 7 gates and services at least two major airline (AA & Delta). Shopping/restaurants includes the Tail Winds Gift Shop, Tail Winds Cafe, and the Mountain View Lounge. The Tail Winds Cafe has a nice breakfast selection featuring a full breakfast (eggs your way, breakfast meat choice, and starch selection. In addition to that it has a breakfast buritto option with salsa), and a selection of morning beverages prepared by a Barista. The Mountain View Lounge was closed, however it seems to be a standard lounge to eat and have the occasional adult beverage.

Showed up an hour early for my flight and was told I was “too late” to check into my flight with ONE bag. After going back and forth with the agent, I was put on a later flight. The guy that was directly behind me in line just so happened to be on the same flight I was originally on. He hadn’t checked in online, he had ONE bag, like me, but he was somehow able to check in??? Make that make sense. Fast forward, my brother showed up to the airport 2 1/2 hours early….at this tiny little airport, and the agent told him he had ONE minute to check in. How does that make ANY sense? It’s absolutely ridiculous!
