30 plus years I been. Flying southwest. Southwest has been a loyal thing in my family and past down from generation's. We are southwest rapid card holders but after having such a hassle with sending my minor child on a flight and having to pay for her checked bag. I realize that southwest has lost their loyalty to their customers. If the ticket is paid through my southwest card then the check bag should be FREE. This silly rule about only if the card holder is flying then the guest and card holder get check bag for free. After thinking I got a good deal on tickets and then had to pay for the check bag after it was all said and done I didn't save at all. I find myself for the first time shopping other airlines.

All of our flights on this trip were on time departing and arrived ahead of schedule, even the one leg from Baltimore to Nashville with turbulence. This was our first time flying Southwest so we weren't familiar with the unassigned seat line ups by letter and number, but they went smoothly and we were always able to sit together. The flight attendants were friendly. The Memphis airport had a place close to our gate ("Torn Basil" see my review) where passengers could eat or get a drink.

I absolutely love Southwest! I look for flights with them before any other airline. Free carry-on & up to 2 free checked bags...you can't beat that. And more often than not, the stewardess are polite & rather entertaining!

Really the best bang for your travel buck. Staff is always friendly and helpful. They do not charge for baggage up to two bags of 50 pounds each. No charge for one carry on and a personal item, such as a purse or backpack. No nickle and diming here. Really the best airline for the end user out there.

Unbelievable customer service. Have taken two trips with Southwest so far this year and unfortunately both times have experience a cancelled flight on the return leg. HOWEVER the first was due to Southwest using our aircraft on another route and we were compensated and rescheduled automatically which was excellent, and the other was due to weather which they can not control but again received generous compensation. If you are unsure whether it is worth the different style of flying (in assigned seats etc) don't think twice. Southwest is where it is at, this coming from a Delta loyalist.
