“My most recent travel experience with Peace Works Travel (PWT) was in Rwanda. It was so very enriching and fulfilling. Each and every day afforded another opportunity for us to meet and interact with regular Rwandan people across a spectrum of class, gender, geography, and life experience, from national leaders to local leaders, grassroots organizers to social entrepreneurs, filmmakers to visual artists, teachers, students, dancers and drummers. PWT connected us with so many interesting local people and perspectives. Still, not a day went by when we weren't reminded of the genocide either through visits to memorials or conversations with survivors. We heard horrifying stories of sexual violence that we will not soon forget. We heard inspirational stories of survival and resilience, forgiveness and redemption. We were moved to tears on many occasions, but we always had the comfort of our local hosts for support. Each night we had long discussions reflecting on our days; these were as important as our daily experiences. The students were thoughtful, mature, curious, compassionate, and supportive of each other. What a great travel experience we had filled with so many great lessons to take away and integrate into our daily lives.“ Dion Crushshon, The Blake School

My son traveled to Laos with Peace Works over spring break his senior year of high school. From when we initially signed up through the completion of the participants’ video project after the trip, Peace Works was very professional and thorough. The itinerary was thoughtful and well organized; definitely a positive, life-changing experience for my son.

I’ve been on three peaceworks travel and have had nothing but amazing experiences. The intimate bonds you form not only with the other students but also with the teacher/chaperones (who treat us like peers rather than students) will always remain. The profound nature of these bonds are matched only by the profound emotions felt when meeting the local people of a given destination and learning about situations so different than what we know. When Peaceworks educates its students, it piques the students’ intellectual curiosity rather than teaching in a forced way that school would.

I can't recommend Peace Works Travel enough. They truly provides unique travel experiences that connect people deeply to the change makers in each location. Their curriculum makes it easy for teachers to help students understand the complexities of each city or country. Teachers travel for free:) Students connect with other students, NGOs, political figures, artists, activists etc..... the impact is powerful.

I had a great experience on my Peace Works travel trip to Chiapas, Mexico in the summer of 2018. The staff were extremely kind and professional, making the process of planning and preparing for the trip painless and stress free. I look forward to interning with them next summer.
