    I have been flying up and down the Americas for about 30 years now, accumulating over 5 million miles. By a LONG distance, Avianca is the worst airline I have ever flown in. Decade after decade, no matter who owns it, they have always disappointed. Every facet of the Avianca experience is subpar. Most recently, I thought I’d book flights with them due to their nonstop JFK flight scheduled. Punished again. Schedules changed without warning now going through Bogota, which is not a good idea. So I asked for a refund. Now waiting as it takes them 30 days to decide whether or not they will return my $3k. Never again. I have said this many times before but now I mean it.

    Dear Customer Service Team, I am writing to express my disappointment with the in-flight service provided during a recent flight. My family, including my wife and our two children (ages 3 and 4), along with other passengers, were not offered basic amenities, such as a glass of water, which is a fundamental human need. This oversight significantly detracted from our travel experience. Additionally, I noted that the seats did not recline, presumably to maximize cabin space and revenue. While I understand the need for operational efficiency, this decision, combined with the high ticket prices, does not align with the level of service and comfort expected. The overall customer experience fell far short of acceptable standards, which was particularly challenging for a family traveling with young children. I respectfully request that you review these concerns and take steps to improve the in-flight experience for future passengers. I look forward to your response and any actions you may take to address this matter.

    Worst flying experience I’ve ever had. Airline makes everything an additional cost including food on a 6 hr flight. There is no leg room in coach. You can barely lean your seat back. There is no TV. The temperature ranges from very hot to cold. Extremely uncomfortable. The staff seem frustrated ( I imagine it is a horrible place to work). We had an 11hr delay which was communicated by an email that just said our flight has been changed with no explanation, apology or information. We were not given anything for the inconvenience even though we all had to find lodging for the night near JFK. The only thing we were given was food vouchers the next day when we flew out. Will not fly this airline again if I can help it.

    Flights I have taken with Avianca have been just fine. Not outstanding, but not horrible. Priced right, with no delays. However, I have been trying to receive a refund since December 2024 and nothing! Bought refundable tickets November 2024. Requested a refund December 2024. Now May 2025... Nothing! To make the refund easy, I have even asked for a Avianca Credit - Yes, I would fly Avianca again :-) But, they continue to try to wire money to the States, and it isn´t working, since they input the info incorrectly. I simply want this ordeal over with. Give me a credit, and let´s move on.

    Horrible experience with customer service. Ground staff at JFK flying to San Salvador did not allow boarding stating “altered passport.” Need I mentioned we were the only African Americans boarding flight. In attempt to gain clarity I received poor customer service as agents ignored and continued working on computer. Manager Avrana referred to us as “you people” displaying blatant racial discrimination towards us.

    Highest recommendation to avoid. Traveling with my wife who had surgery and couldn’t lift more than 20 pounds and my toddler son and we had to fight to get an employee to help us to take the baby’s child seat to our seats on the plane. Very rude. Then we landed in Boston instead of JFK due to a storm. No problem, things happen. Their employee lied and said if we got a rental car we’d be reimbursed, as we couldn’t put our baby through another 6 hours of travel with no food. I will never fly with them again.

    If I could rate this so named “airline” I would put -5 stars. It is unbelievable that after showing all certification necessary for a portable air tank, my 80+ in laws were not allowed to board, treating them very poorly and not giving them any information. 2 elderly that don’t speak Spanish shouldn’t have to go through this.. worse experience every!!!
