    I just wanted to share a really disappointing experience I had on Flight AA 5854 from Albany to Philadelphia on July first. When I boarded, I realized my carry-on wouldn’t fit in the overhead bin. I asked the flight attendant, Kathy, what I should do. Instead of helping or offering any guidance, she told me, “Either it fits or you can take another plane.” I was honestly shocked by the tone and lack of basic courtesy. As someone who’s been flying with American Airlines since 2020 and is an AAdvantage member, this interaction felt especially disheartening. I’ve come to expect at least a minimal level of professionalism and support when flying. I wasn’t asking for anything unreasonable, just help figuring out what to do with my bag. I don’t usually write complaints, but this left such a bad impression that I felt I had to say something. If this is how passengers are treated now, I’ll seriously have to consider flying with other airlines moving forward.

    Does not honor military veterans or first responders with priority boarding etc. Only active military and you had better have your ID to prove it. You can do better American airlines! Many other airlines extend this simple no cost respect.

    The worst airline there is. Delays after delays now the baggage is lost. Happens every single time with this airline. There’s a major problem with the leadership or the employees are simply lack in training or competency. Something has got to change.

    American Airlines is trash, the plane that our flight was suppose to take to our destination they gave to another group for a different destination. Complete disregard whether or not any of us would miss our connections. The workers at the desk are incompetent and showed no care for the frustration of the Customers... do your best to not utilize Albany airport or American Airlines in general

    This is a bit late as the trip was over about a year ago, but someone asked me today about the trip, reminding me how upset I was so I am adding the review now. On August 11, 2018 we boarded an American Airline flight heading to Cancun Mexico at 6:00 AM. However, because American Airlines overfilled the plane with fuel they couldn't take off. After about an hour they were finally able to figure out how to get some fuel off the plane (maybe they should think about installing drain valves or something). Unfortunately this meant we were going to miss our connecting flight in Philadelphia by a few minutes due to the delay (though we were hopeful we would just make it). After arriving in Philly a few minutes too late, and finding the connecting flight had just left, we called Orbitz and they changed our flight to a later flight. Unfortunately, our original connecting flight was supposed to leave at 7:59 AM, but our new flight wasn't scheduled to leave until 6:09 PM (thats over 10 hours layover when I had paid more for bookings that had much shorter layover). We went to talk to the customer service for the airline and ask if there was anything they could do, asking if they had partner airlines they could book us on, or airports near Philadelphia that we could travel to and then fly out of there, or destination airports near Cancun that might have earlier flights so we could just take ground transport from there. The lady at the desk simply asked "You got booked on a connecting flight?", I answered "Yes" and she said in a dismissive tone "Then you good. Some people don't even got that". After asking a few more people and trying to find a better arrangement, we got an announcement that the new connecting flight was going to be delayed also, so instead of leaving at 6:09 PM it was now going to leave at 7:45 PM. We attempted to talk to various American Airlines staff again, as it was starting to look like we would never get to Cancun. We finally found one employee who was friendly and said he would try to see if he could do anything. Unfortunately all he was able to do was get a $5 voucher for food at the airport since we were now spending the day there (unfortunately dining in an airport is much more than $5 as the prices are all super inflated). I purposely paid extra for an early flight so we could be in Cancun at 10:39 AM so we would have that extra day to enjoy. Instead of arriving at 10:39 AM we arrived after 11:00 PM, more than 12 hours late and lost a whole day of vacation. It's not like we go on vacation a lot, especially on such big trips that are that expensive. Worse, instead of being apologetic and trying to fix things, maybe offer a decent voucher for a future flight or bonus reward miles for our inconvenience, we just got what amounted to "your good, shut your mouth and stop complaining" and only one helpful employee who got us $5 off a $75 meal (I seriously hope that employee found a new job at a company that values it's customers). P.S. Congratulations American Airlines for being my first and possibly only 1 star review!
