This was my first flight since the airport was updated. There is lots of space for both standing and sitting. It is very clean and well maintained. The little baggage claim is also so cute! (See picture) The walk through TSA was well streamlined and there was plenty of seating in the waiting area for the plane. People could spread out and be comfortable. There is even a convenient way to fill a water bottle once through. The employees were also efficient and helpful. I really liked the updates and was pleased with everything.

If you haven't flown out of the Alpena Regional Airport in a while, I advise it! They had a full revamp not to long ago, and the place is beautiful! The staff was really friend, the place is never crowded. I really enjoyed flying out of here. Normally I will drive to a different airport, because flying out of this one sometimes the cost is VERY high. This time around I landed a good deal and decided to try it, and I was glad I did. And yes, they still have FREE parking!

The new look of Alpena County Regional Airport in Michigan. Very clean and spacious with modern style compared to the old building (right next to it). A very hi tech restrooms. With free parking of course! Check in was smooth, Agent and TSA crews are nice and friendly.

This is an exceptional regional airport. The staff are friendly. TSA is patient and efficient. Although it is small, there is plenty of seating for anyone waiting for an inbound or outbound flight. They are currently building a new terminal and I’m excited to see it open in the near future. For now I have only one negative comment to share: After you have passed thru security, there are no vending machines that will allow you to purchase bottled water to take aboard the aircraft (and you cannot bring bottled water thru security). Simply put, it’s not possible to board an outbound flight with a bottled water.

Small airport, very few people, very relaxed & easy experience. My bags faced more TSA scrutinty than at most big airports, but it wasn't a problem since I had allowed plenty of time. Don't expect to get anything to eat there, though!
