That was nothing less than a traumatic experience passing through that terminal. I have to imagine that whoever is in charge of the staff starts them out each morning and says: remember, make sure not to smile, and don't forget to be as rude as possible to each person passing through. Every single encounter I had with the staff was unpleasant and even a little abusive. I rode down an elevator with a couple after we had all made it through the t.S a screening, and they looked horrified, and said they didn't ever want to travel here again. We all agreed. It was pretty much the worst terminal we'd ever been to

Lots of delays with the snow today and planes defrosting and de-icing, make sure to go early! Our flight left 2-3 hours late... Gate 49 is really far so a good walk to get there. The second shake shack is less crowded if you go in that direction.

Wow total transformation since the last time I was here. It’s clean and the signage is big and easy to read. Pleasantly surprised how nice it is. Terminal 4 is a big terminal with 37 gates. There are two concourses, Concourse A and Concourse B. Boutiques and restaurants are between the two concourses. Airline lounges are in the A Concourse. Priority Pass members have a choice of a few lounges. Some close early and depending on what time you arrive there may be a wait to get in.

JFK famous but old & going through a 19 billion upgrade for terminal 4 & 8. Skytrain are running okay. Relatively clean terminal but commuting from terminal to terminal is a long walk & could be meandering. Date: 2024-AUG-30.

Pros: NYS’s connection to the international world 🌍. Air Train 🚆 (free of charge) connects all terminals, including the NYC Subway 🚇. One of the biggest destinations in the world, which means cheapest and most number of flights ✈️ available for international travel. Cons: Very busy airport. Carts 🛒 for carrying your luggage 🧳 are not free; $6 per cart, only payable by credit card. If for any reason, you cannot handle/carry your luggage, porters are available and charge $6 dollar per bag. Parking for terminal 4 is extremely busy and hard to find empty spots. Parking 🅿️ Rates: $6 for each half hour up to 3 hours. $12 for each half hour after 3 hours. Maximum $80 per day. Bathrooms 🚽 are not the cleanest and are always busy. Bottom line, it’s an expensive airport and not the best in terms of shopping and restaurant’s choice. However, terminal 4 is considered the better one amongst the others at JFK.
