Out of the 10 major airlines in the U.S., this one is by far the worst. They lure you in with a cheap airfare, but then nickel and dime you for everything bags, seats, even basic services. In the end, the low fare isn’t worth the frustration. Here’s what happened: My wife had a last-minute trip and booked with Spirit because it was the cheapest option. It turned out to be her first—and last—time flying with them. Her flight was canceled before she even boarded, and they rebooked her on United Airlines, which was fine. What shocked us was Spirit’s refusal to refund any of her extra fees: a $79 bag fee, a $12 seat fee, and a $29 seat fee. She never even stepped foot on the plane. Still, when she got home and called to request a refund, she waited over an hour just to speak with someone only to be told there would be no refund. Save yourself the headache. Book with a real airline. Spirit might seem cheaper, but it will cost you more in time, stress, and money.

Waiting 1.5 hours and counting for checked bags. Spirit agent in the baggage area said this happens all the time and they are “short staffed.” Watched delta, southwest and others unload their bags in 15-30 minutes. First and last time flying spirit. Enjoy bankruptcy!

I fly about 5-8 times per year but had never flown Spirt. The cost for my family’s flight was about $1400 cheaper vs the next airline. My flights loaded and took off on time. The planes were clean and comfortable. The crews were nice. I honestly have nothing bad to say about my experience and for the price it’s one of the best ones I’ve ever had. I could pay for the extras like internet, food, etc, but didn’t. I highly recommend flying Spirit especially for the affordability, but honestly it was a great experience.

What an awful experience. Book at your own risk. Expect to always run into issues with little to no information. Cancelled or delayed flights or other issues is business as usual. Don’t expect any curtesy or help. Don’t fall into the trap of accepting vouchers, they are useless. I have travel credit and vouchers for how they have impacted me and it’s impossible to use. Do not trust, as they will tell you, “you get what you paid for” so basically a terrible experience.

If zero stars were available to give here that would be ideal. Flyers beware of this airline's customer service at BNA. While I cannot vouch for the airport as a whole, I most certainly can confirm Spirit's low "spirit". Flyers are met with poor attitudes and no pleasantries from the majority of the Spirit Airlines customer service staff at this airport including gate attendants (i.e. Sierra/Linzy), customer service counter staff, and supervising staff (i.e. Erica) at BNA. They are more concerned with baggage size checks and ripping flyers off rather than warm wishes on a safe flight or any other welcoming pleasantries. The in-flight crew's customer service is questionable as well. One flight attendant remained seated with her head down and pretended to be too preoccupied to thank flyers as they exited the aircraft. Another flight attendant ignored passengers as they boarded the aircraft! Chatter about other passengers from Spirit Airlines flight attendants was also overheard while onboard several times. The customer service complaints are 100% legit. Beware!
