It’s truly amazing to see our small town community making national headlines. One might even say its magnifico. You see what I did there

Truly don’t know how the borough continues to be a functioning unit. I think I speak for everyone when I say that the electric in this town is total BS. Overcharging people for electricity. Shutting off electricity if payment is not made even in the cold winter months (which is very illegal by the way). Double billing. Not sending bills on time. Paying online is a nightmare. Can’t ever get ahold of someone on the phone. They close at 3:30pm which is a really stupid time to be closing the office, makes it impossible for people working regular hours to even go there and complain. I’m surprised the citizens of ellwood haven’t boycotted ellwood electric for how terrible they handle everything. These people should be able to go with other electric companies if chosen. The state representative and town mayor should be more on top of this issue, especially since it’s been an ongoing issue for quite a few years now. Unacceptable.

Are there any numbers to call to report outages? Obviously you could call the main office all day and the phone will never be answered. A tad bit frustrating.

This review is specifically for Kim at the utilities office. This woman is completely unprofessional and should not be in a position where she has to deal with citizens of this city. The head of Code Enforcement told me to call Kim and have her fill out a permit form so that I could obtain a dumpster permit and the permit number to order a dumpster from Aiken Refuse. Before I could finish my sentence, Kim interrupted with a "No!" and basically said it doesn't work like that. I told her that she should speak with Ralph, the person in charge of Code Enforcement, and her response was, "I don't have to do that." She then goes on to say "if you would let me speak" when she herself initially interrupted me, I said to her that their hours of 8-3:30 make it impossible for a lot of us who have normal jobs to come in person for something as trivial as a dumpster permit, her response was that "she's working a job too", as if that's even remotely relevant considering the context of this being about their hours of operation and the unnecessary burden of obtaining a dumpster permit. This person shouldn't be anywhere close to a customer service position.

The thing is they went up in prices on electricity.. sucks when you have a 400$ electric bill … never in my life had a high electric bill till this year .. and only 3 years my electric was never expensive to this year… they need to lower because there’s people on a fixed income like me. The only option they have is you sign a paper saying you’re only on a fixed income income . Then you have 25 days to pay it . Sucks really because in Texas they have a plan if you’re on a fixed income the electricity company makes up the difference .. tve don’t have that here.. and in Philly they have a program but I for got war it was .. man I wish I was living in Texas and Philly right now now..
